CAREER

Carolina's homerink was destroyed by a landslide in 2001. She then chose to move to Oberstdorf (Germany) to work with Michael Huth and to attend a boarding school there. From there on, her career took off. She made her senior debut in the 2002-2003 season, finishing 4th at her first European Championships and impressing both judges and audience by skating a flawless freeskate including two triple-triple combinations. In 2005, she won her first medal at World Championships. Her first European Title followed in January 2007 and she managed to defend that title in 2008. At the World Championships 2008 she won the short program and won the silver medal overall.

Carolina was the flag bearer for the host Italian team during the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin. Unfortunately, she couldn't handle the huge pressure she was under and finished in 9th place.

Until March 2009, Carolina stayed with her long-term coach Michael Huth but then decided to move to LA to work with Frank Carroll for the upcoming Olympic season. At the European Championships 2010 in Tallinn, she managed to win her third European title. After another disappointing result at the Olympics in Vancouver, she decided to move back to Oberstdorf and to return to her long-term coach Michael Huth.

The 2010/2011 season wrapped-up well for Carolina. With a podium finish in each of the seven competitions she entered, she finished the season as the number 1 of the ISU world standings. She won three Golds (NHK, Nationals, Gardena Spring Trophy), two silvers (Grand Prix Final, Euros) and two Bronze (Skate America, Worlds).
