18.01.2014 - Carolina wins Bronze at Europeans

At her 12th European Championships, Carolina won the Bronze medal with a mesmerizing performance to "Bolero".

Even though she was not perfect on all the jumps, she sold every second of her program and received the highest presentation score of the competition. The highlight of the routine was without a doubt the step sequence in the end of her program, which received the highest possible score for this element!

Carolina received a total of 191.39 points to win the Bronze medal. This is her 9th consecutive medal at Europeans (5 x Gold, 2 x Silver, 2 x Bronze) and her 23rd podium finish in a row. Congratulations Carolina and thank you for your performances at Europeans!

Carolina debuted her new short program to Schubert's Ave Maria at Europeans in Budapest. She skated a perfect routine including a 3toe-3toe combination, a 3loop as well as a double axel and was awarded level4 for her step sequence. Her ethereal and light interpretation of the music touched a lot of people in the arena and a lot of them were on their feet even before she finished her last spin.

Carolina is currently in third place with 68.97 points, behind Adelina Sotnikova and Julia Liplnistkaya from Russia. The free program takes place Friday evening and will be shown live on RaiSport2.

Thank you Carolina for this exceptionally emotional program!

10.01.2014 - MESSAGE FROM CAROLINA

Euros are coming up. This year in Budapest, like 10 years ago! I participated then for the second time and this is going to be my 12th European Championships. How exciting! I feel very happy and honoured to be back competing in this beautiful city.

As for my skating, I withdrew from Italian Nationals because of a back injury. During this time I had some time to think about my programs and I decided to make some changes: different music, different choreography.

Short Program: Ave Maria - Schubert
Free Skating: Bolero - Ravel

I was very interested in keeping Bolero for Olympic year but I wanted the pleasure of the choreographic process and the challenge of a new program. That way I could also choose which one felt better. Due to the time off with my injury I just couldn't get Scheherazade to feel right. Together with Lori Nichol, I decided that I love the tempo, the pacing and the energy of Bolero. The short is new. We both love the Humoresque but some people loved it and some couldn't understand the story. The idea of the the yin and yang of the pure angelic and ethereal Ave Maria and the sensual yet bold Bolero just inspires me every day.
Thank you Lori for working with me last minute and for the fun we have on the ice.

I wish all skaters and spectators an amazing European Championship. Keep the fingers crossed!

Merry Christmas to all of you!" - Carolina

Dear friends, we'd like to remind you that 2013 Opera On Ice will be shown on Italian channel Canale 5 on Christmas day at 5.10 pm... don't miss it! The dvd of the show will be released in Italy on December 27th.

12.12.2013 - Carolina withdraws from Nationals

Carolina will not take part in the Italian National Championships scheduled to take place in Merano from December 19-21. She is currently fighting with recurring physical problems after her Grand Prix assignments this fall which keep her from skating at this competition, even though the event was included in her season schedule.

In consultation with the officials of the "Fiamme Azzure", Carolina has decided to withdraw from the competition in Merano while expressing her regrets on not being able to compete at such an important event organized in her home region: a decision that is certainly linked to the preparations for the Olympic Games in Sochi 2014

24.11.2013 - Carolina wins Silver at Rostelecom Cup

Carolina won the silver medal at Rostelecom Cup of Moscow with an overall score of 190.12 behind Julia Lipnitskaia (190.80), while Mirai Nagasu (175.73) won the bronze.

Carolina completed a beautiful triple lutz at the beginning of her free program, followed by a 3flip2toe combination and a beautiful final triple salchow. She had some flaws on the landings of her other jumps but overall delivered a good performance to win the free program. However, it was not quite enough to win this event, only 0,68 points were missing to overtake Lipnitskaia. Brava Carolina, we are proud of you!

Carolina competed in her first ISU Gran Prix in Beijing last weekend. She skated her new programs: the short to Dvorak's "Humoresque" and the free to Rimski-Korsakov's "Scheherazade". Despite some mistakes on the jumps Carolina placed second in both parts of the competitions thanks to excellent Program Component Scores. She earned a total of 173.40 and won the bronze medal.

This is her 21st consecutive podium finish and the 11th consecutive medal in a Grand Prix competition. Congratulation Caro!

Dear fans,

I'd like to thank you all for your support during these World Championships in Canada. Special thanks to those who woke up in the middle of the night to watch me skating live. What a great competition that was! The nose bleeding gave me some trouble but it was a good lesson for me. It showed that we're just human and it's not perfection that counts but the emotions and passion you put into it. I feel extremely honored to be one of the best skaters in the world! I feel very grateful for all your supporting and contratulating messages. Thank you very much.

Till next time, Carolina

Amazing success for the second edition of Opera On Ice: The Arena in Verona was sold out on September 22nd, with over 12.000 spectators! One of the most appreciated performances was that of Carolina skating with World Champion Stéphane Lambiel to the music "Je veux vivre" from “Roméo & Juliette” by Gounod.

“I would have never imagined the magic and atmosphere of the first year could ever happen again, but the show was even more exciting and gripping, with lots of thrilled children around us, dream-like costumes and a fantastic public that in the finale embraced us all by lighting up the candles. I will always carry this image and this feeling in my heart” - Carolina Kostner.
